The Blockley Ramblers’ walk this month is on Sunday 11 March and is from Salford to Cornwell & back. It’s just over 4 miles and easy going. Meet at Salford village green@ 13.30.

Local Cotswold Warden walks in March,
which start at 10.00 unless otherwise stated, include the following:

* The Barringtons and Windrush – Saturday March 03.
Moderate. Heading up the Windrush Valley from Burford on a quiet lane to Little Barrington. Then following the River Windrush to the village of the same name and across Great Barrington Park to Great Barrington and return. Easy gradients. Please bring a packed lunch. 5.5 hours; 11 miles. Meet in Burford car park. OS Map ref 253 123

* Wyck, Westcote’s – A Tale of Two Valleys. Thursday March 15.
Moderate. Figure of eight which encompasses the valleys of the Dikkler and Evenlode. Moderate slopes. Optional pub lunch in Westcote. 5 hours; 9 miles. Meet on Wyck Rissington village green. OS Map ref 190 217

* Walking from Longborough -4 - Thursday March 20.
Moderate. Fourth in series to celebrate Longborough’s achievement of “Walkers are Welcome” status. Eastwards to Little Compton and return, taking in the villages of Evenlode and Chastleton. Pub lunch available. 5.5 hours; 11 miles. Meet at Cotswold Food Store car park, Longborough (on A424). OS Map ref 170 296

* Spring on the Scarp – Thursday March 22.
Moderate. Welcome the first signs of Spring with wonderful views exploring some of the background to this glorious part of the Cotswold escarpment. Please bring a packed lunch. 6 hours; 10 miles. Meet at Dover’s Hill car park (about a mile to west of Chipping Campden). OS Map ref 137 395

* A Swell view of Stow – Wednesday March 28.
Moderate. A super walk through some of the villages near Stow-on-the-Wold followed by a visit to a local hostelry for an optional lunch. 3 hours; 6 miles. Meet in Tesco car park, Stow-on-the-Wold. OS Map ref 191 262

* Secrets of the School Punishment Book – Saturday March 31.
Moderate. A true story. Sitting in the classroom of an old village school you will learn what life was like and how discipline was kept 100 years ago. Pub lunch available afterwards. 2.5 hours; 4 miles. Met at Ilmington village school, Back Street, CV36 4LJ. OS Map ref 210 438

Figure of 8 walk. am: up to Wyck Beacon (5.5 miles). pm: a gentle stroll (3miles) along the Monarch's Way and back to Bourton-on-the-Water. Lunch at The Cotswold Way. Meet at car park beside The Cotswold Way pub in Bourton-on-the-Water, OL45 SP 165208
